Skipping Stones: Eurogamer Hands On

each fragment filtered lakelight
leaves were mosaics of stained glass
cast shades opaque and lovely
we hid in driftwood castles

In amongst the noisy, sweaty crowds of the Eurogamer expo, a small oasis of tranquillity can be found  in Skipping Stones. This is an experimental game in which the player simply skips stones over a lake which generates sounds and poetry. The simple but pretty graphics have the appearance of a tranquil watercolour painting which you feel you have entered whilst the weather and sounds change around you while you spend time skipping stones. After the noise, garishness, and violence of many of the mainstream titles that were played during the day, the melancholy peacefulness of this game has lingered with me.
